    Coaches Corner

    What an AWESOME swim meet Serpents!  I am truly proud of all of our swimmers, we had great team spirit and sportsmanship!  As we head into week three, please remember:

    • CCI is coming!!!!!  This is a great fun, no pressure meet!  Swimmers get to pick what they want to swim and swim under the lights :)  If you are signed up, please make sure you have picked your swimmers events!

    • Don't forget to sign in and out for this weekend's meet!

    • Continue to encourage your swimmer to congratulate the other team when done a race, cheer for their teammates, and have a positive outlook, even when things don't go their way.

    We will continue to work hard at practice and have fun!  Remember NO PRACTICE JULY 4th!!

    Updates for the week

    • Hot Dog Wednesday July 3rd

    • NO Practice July 4th

    • Fun Friday is July 5! The activity will be Tie Dye! Bring something to tie dye (shirt, towel, bag, etc) and your creativity!

     

    Meet Reminders/Updates:

    • NO photography/videos behind the blocks- don’t pull your cellphone, watch, etc. out behind the blocks.

    • Dual Meet @ Waugh Chapel is July 6. Swimmers must arrive and check in by 8:00 am.

      • Address is: 854 Waugh Chapel Road Gambrills, MD 21054 

    • Don Schaub: July 10 @ Five Oaks Swim Club, arrival by 4:00 pm. Address is: 1817 Frederick Road in Catonsville, Maryland,

      • In order to be eligible for this meet, swimmers may not exceed the corresponding Qualifying Time (QT) in the event(s) entered, may not have placed 1st -4th in a regular season dual meet in the event(s) they are entered, and may not be entered with a No Time (NT).

      • Swimmers may enter a maximum of 3 events, the meet fee is $8 per event.

      • Warm Ups at 4:30 pm, meet begin at 5:30 pm

    • Carroll County Invitational: July 17 @ HOME: The Carroll County Invitational Swim Meet is quickly approaching.  For those new to our team, this is a fun late afternoon/evening meet that we host at our pool for all teams that swim in Carroll County.   Most swimmers think this is one of the most fun meets of the season.    Additionally, it is one of our team's biggest fundraisers for the year.  Below is important information regarding the meet:

      • Arrival time is 2:30 (you MAY NOT set up your tents prior to this time because the pool is still open to members- please be respectful!) We also cut our space in half to accommodate the rest of the teams, so we may ask you to move closer to other tents/shift your location as people are setting up.

      • Warm Ups begin at 3:00 pm

      • 1st-3rd places will receive medals and 4th-16th places will receive ribbons.  Each swimmer is given a participation ribbon for swimming

      • Swimmers may enter a maximum of 4 events. The event costs $5 per event and the cost will be charged to your account.  

      • Every family that has a swimmer swimming in this event will be required to do a volunteer job.

      • The deadline for signing in to this meet and for pre-orders for the apparel is 7/10/24.  

    • Jr Champs: July 22 @ Westminster Riding Club Arrival time by 2:30 pm 

      • Warm Ups begin at 3:00 pm

      • Swimmers are eligible to swim if they have not posted an individual event time that would have qualified for Straehle based on the 2024 qualifying times. (Please note that swimmers who have participated only as a member of a relay that posted a Straehle qualifying time are still eligible to participate.)

      • 8 and Unders may swim in 3 events. 9 and older may swim in 4 events. NT’s are accepted.

      • The entry fee is 5$ per event.

      • Medals will be given out for 1st , 2nd , and 3rd places and ribbons for 4th through 10th place. All swimmers will receive a participation ribbon.

    • Divisionals: July 27th @ HOME. You MUST swim in 3 dual meets in order to qualify, and qualification is based on time.

     

    Team Gear:

    • Please make every effort to wear South Carroll Spirit wear and/or Black and Yellow. We are here to support our summer swim team! 

    • If your swimmer is not wearing the team suit, they must wear the team cap and a black suit.  Caps should arrive by Thursday, June 24. We will announce when they have arrived!

    Reminders

    • Buy out- $250- We have 3 remaining: email [email protected] if interested.

    • Volunteers MUST wear SCST or black and yellow. If we have wardrobe issues, we will buy volunteer pinnies to wear. 

    • Code of Conduct must be signed by all swimmers and families.  Swimmers will not be permitted to swim in any meets until it is submitted.
