    Introduction

    Welcome to the first day of the swim season! Below are the updates from the parent meeting on Friday, and important information for the season! It's a long one, so be sure to read it all the way through! Let us know if you have any questions.

     

    Communication

    • We will be communicating primarily through our website: www.scserpents.com.  

    • Team Unify will be used to check in and out of meets, sign up and check volunteer job commitments, and send communication.

    • Please read your weekly bulletins.  These have important information and updates in them.  

    • Join the Facebook group: South Carroll Serpent Swim Team

    • Inclement weather updates will be posted on Facebook and sent via TeamUnify.  

    • Check your mailbox! Ribbons and important forms and information will be put there for you. The TEAM REP drawer is for parents and team reps only. Currently, there are printed copies of the Code of Conduct, the Buddy form, and extra One Pagers if you need one. Please put your completed forms in the appropriate folder.

    • Signup Genius for Evening Practices (June 25-July 18) is coming!

     

    Meet Information:

    • Schedule is on the One Pager

    • Home Meets: arrive by 7:30am

    • Away meets- arrive by 8:00am

    • Sign in or out on Team Unify by the Tuesday before the meet.

    • NO photography/videos behind the blocks- don’t pull your cellphone, watch, etc. out behind the blocks.

    • First Meet: Time Trials June 15! This is the ONLY meet you will be able to choose what your child swims.  

    • Divisionals: July 27th. You MUST swim in 3 dual meets in order to qualify, and qualification is based on time.

    • Please make every effort to wear South Carroll Spirit wear or Black and Yellow. We are here to support our summer swim team!

    Important Dates

    • Picture Day: July 12th

    • Senior tribute: July 20th

    • Team Party: June 27th

    Help Needed

    • Next year we will need Head Volunteers for:

      • Concessions

      • Set up/Take Down (good if they’re the same people during the season- 4 fri night and 2 saturday)

      • Fundraising

    Code of Conduct:

    • All families must sign

    • You will not swim in meets if you have not signed.

    • Must be submitted by June 14.

    Volunteering Duties: 

    • Jobs will open June 10th at 12:00pm.

    • A representative for your family must volunteer at any home meet your swimmer(s) are in, and 2 away meets. This does not include invitationals.

    • We are monitoring job sign-ups on Team Unify, and you will be assigned a job if you do not signed up for jobs.  We reserve the right to assess a fee if you do not fulfill your volunteer obligations.

    • There are 5 additional/special/invitational meets and 2 fundraising events that will require volunteers too. 

    • Buy out- $250 for 5 families- First five families to email [email protected] on Sunday June 9th starting at 12:00pm will be able to pay out of working their time trials and dual meet requirements (pay out does not include additional meets).

    • Volunteers MUST wear SCST or black and yellow. If we have wardrobe issues, we will buy volunteer pinnies to wear. 

    • Please wear black/yellow or your Serpent gear! 

    • Check in with Shannon and/or Heather (wearing pink serpent gear) before each meet. 

    Hot Dog Wednesdays:

    • 11-2 on designated Wednesdays

    • hot dog, snack, and a drink

    Fun Friday and Buddy Program:

    • We hold fun team events right after practices on Fridays.

    • The activity/theme for the week will be posted ahead of time on the bulletin board.

    • The buddy program is a fun way to promote spirit during the season. We pair younger swimmers up with older swimmers. The swimmers are encouraged to cheer for their buddy during their swims. They also exchange little snacks and/or fun items before each swim meet.

    Reminder:

    • We are all volunteers here, be gracious and kind.

    • We want this to be a great season for all of our families.

     

     

    Coaches Corner

    Please welcome our coaching staff for the 2024 swim season!

    • Head Coach: Ashley Towle 

    • Assistant Coaches: Erin and Lauren

    • Jr. Coaches are: Mackenzie, Elyse, Connor, Claire, and Molly

    Guidelines for parents during practice:

    • Parents must stay off of the pool deck and sit up on the top of the hill. 

    • Parents of 10 and under swimmers must stay on site during practice. For all other age groups you may leave and PROMPTLY return at the end of practice to pick up your child.

    • If you have an issue please talk to the team reps (Susie or Erin) and they can address. 

    • You must leave at 11am when practices are finish and return to the pool at noon when it opens to the members at large. You may not sit within the grounds and wait. You MUST check in at the front desk and register all guests

    Rules for swimmers during practice (please review with your children):

    • No bikinis

    • Long hair should be tied back or in a cap (preferred) during practice

    • No gum chewing

    • Show respect when the adults are talking (children should not be talking)

    • Try to go to the bathroom before practice and limit bathroom breaks during practice. Practices are only an hour so we need you in the water as much as possible

    • Arrive on time and leave when your session is finished.
